As the individual grabs onto a railing in an attempt to stay, the officers strike him repeatedly.In doing so, the officers then received a barrage of physical and verbal abuse as fans could be seen throwing punches and various items in an attempt to help the man.A Bolton fan, who wished to remain anonymous, told theManchester Evening News:“It was awful. Im not sure what started it, but I believe the police were trying to spot those who were throwing coins and bottles at the Wigan fans.“There was a constant onslaught of bottles and coins which were being thrown between the two sets of supporters – with no security present.Some Wigan fans began to attack members of the police force2
