Oumar Niasse: Cardiff City sign Senegal forward from Everton on loan for remainder of the season
Cardiff City have signed Oumar Niasse from Everton, the Premier League club have confirmed. The Bluebirds had been chasing Niasse throughout the January window with the view of signing the Senegal forward on loan. And he has penned terms with the Welsh outfit for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.Neil Warnock, the Cardiff manager, confirmed the transfer had been completed shortly before the club made an official announcement. At his press conference previewing Saturday’s Premier League visit to Newcastle, Warnock said: “Niasse deal is done.”Niasse, 28, leaves Everton having made just a single Premier League appearance since the middle of September, and without a goal to his name this season. He has made 39 appearances in total for the Toffees, scoring nine goals, having moved to Goodison Park from Lokomotiv Moscow on February 1, 2016.The striker said: “Im really pleased to be at Cardiff City.“Having heard about the manager from other players and met him earlier today, I knew this was the right move for me. Other clubs were interested, but I was convinced that this was where I wanted to come.“Id like to thank, the manager and Mr Ken Choo for working so hard to make the move possible. I cant wait to get started.”Warnock revealed that his former Sheffield United player Phil Jagielka, now at Everton, had spoken highly to him of Niasse.“Jagielka said he’d be my type of player and do well for us,” Warnock said.Niasse has found himself out of favour under Marco Silva1

“When I look at the squad there’s not many players on loan who are like Niasse.“I wanted (Nathaniel) Clyne but that meant I wouldn’t have been able to get Niasse because of the loan rules.“So it could be fate and now he’s got this opportunity to put himself in the shop window.”Niasse could be quickly followed to Cardiff by Emiliano Sala, the Nantes striker, who is expected to have a medical on Friday ahead of completing his move to the Bluebirds.
