Eden Hazard has thrown his backing behind Ruben Loftus-Cheek and believes he can go onto become one of the best midfielders in this country.The 22-year-old came off the bench for Chelsea on Sunday and added the second goal with a well taken strike after good link-up play with Hazard and Pedro.2

Loftus-Cheek celebrates his goal against Fulham

It was his fifth goal in just nine appearances this season and his first Premier League match since he played and scored against Burnley in October.While the majority of Loftus-Cheek’s playing time has been taken up in the cup competitions, the Belgian has seen enough to know his team-mate has a bright future.“He’s a fantastic player. We all know. I’ve trained with him for five years,” Hazard told Sky Sports.“I saw him when he was young, now he is not so young but he can still improve. But in the future I think he will be one of the best midfielders in the country.”2

Loftus-Cheek has played mainly in the cup competitions

Loftus-Cheek spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Crystal Palace and his impressive displays earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, where he started the 6-1 group stage win over Panama.Despite rumours of a move away in January for first-team football, Loftus-Cheek is only focused on playing for Chelsea.“My mindset is when I get the opportunity to play, whether it is the Europa League or Premier League, I have got to do my best and to try to make stuff happen but also do what the manager asks me to do defensively. So that’s my mindset and I want to carry on like that.Chelsea travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday and then have a huge match with leaders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
