Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has been charged with verbally abusing referee Chris Kavanagh.Bowyer was shown two yellow cards in quick succession in the Addicks’ 2-1 win at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.2

It is not the first time Lee Bowyer has been in trouble with the FA this season

The former Leeds star was sent off in the opening stages of the second-half and watched the rest of the game from the stands.A statement from the Football Association read: “Lee Bowyer has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E3 following the game against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday [23 February 2019].“It is alleged the Charlton Athletic manager used abusive and/or insulting language towards the match referee in both the 46th minute and following his dismissal.“He has until 18:00 on 28 February 2019 to provide a response.”Igor Vetokeles injury-time goal secured promotion-chasing Charlton a first win in five games.2

The Addicks are fifth in League One and eight points off an automatic promotion spot.It is the second time Bowyer has been hit with an FA charge this season. He was fined 1,000 after admitting to an FA misconduct charge in August.Bowyer said referee James Linington shouldnt be allowed to ref for a while after his sides 1-0 defeat to Peterborough at the Valley.Linington awarded Peterborough a late penalty, which Jason Cummings converted one minute from time.
